These innovative and creative group classes are for children ages 4-6 years old. They are 45 minute classes and usually have three children in the same class.
During this time of informal guidance we guide our students through the 7 stages of preparatory audiation. Our goal is to audiate while we sing and play so we can make music intuitively and with understanding, not simply pushing down keys mindlessly.
About 30 minutes of each class is spent away from the keyboard in Activity Time. This is where we listen and move to songs and chants, echo tonal and rhythm patterns, create tonal and rhythm patterns and learn to coordinate our bodies and our breath with our music making. This time is extremely valuable for developing our audiation and preparing us for formal instruction.
All of this wonderful audiation is then brought to the keyboard for about 15 minutes of each class where we learn keyboard geography and technique, learn performance pieces by rote, and always find time to do improvisation activities that solidify our learning.
Members of the studio will be given access to a large library of audio recordings that we encourage you to listen to between classes.
Keyboard Games are fun, creative and innovative classes that will give your child an excellent foundation and readiness to pursue formal instruction on the piano or any other instrument.
